This agreement is between you (“Pro”) and Kelcraft Solutions, LLC, doing business as Assemblrs (“Assemblrs”, “we”). It applies when you sign up as a pro on assemblrs.com. Please read it. By e-signing, you agree to it.
1. What Assemblrs is
Assemblrs is a website that connects people who need furniture and similar items assembled (“Buyers”) with independent assembly businesses (“Pros”). We are not an assembly company. We do not do the work, supervise it, or employ the people who do it.
2. You run your own business
- You are an independent business, not our employee, agent or partner.
- You set your own prices, minimum job size, service area, categories and schedule.
- You choose which jobs to reply to and take. You can turn down any job.
- You supply your own tools, vehicle and supplies, and decide how to do the work.
- You may work for any other platform or customer, including our competitors. There is no non-compete.
- You are not entitled to wages, overtime, benefits, workers’ compensation or unemployment through Assemblrs.
- Helpers: you may bring a helper only if the buyer asks for one or approves it in the app before the job. You pay your helpers, and you are responsible for them as if they were you, including their conduct and any damage they cause.
3. Who can be a Pro
To be approved and stay active, you must:
- Be at least 18 and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Pass an identity check (government ID and a selfie match through our vendor).
- Pass a background check, ordered through our screening vendor with your separate written consent, and repeated every 24 months.
- Hold any license your city or state requires for the work you take.
- Either carry general liability insurance (section 10) or accept the per-job damage commitment (section 9).
- Have a clear profile photo of yourself.
- Keep a credit or debit card on file for booking fees. Prepaid and gift cards aren’t accepted.
Everything you submit must be true and kept up to date.
Additional assessments. At our discretion, we may require additional assessments before approval or at any time while you’re active, such as a skills test, a quiz on our on-the-day rules, or a review of your past work. We’ll tell you what’s needed and give you a reasonable time to complete it. We apply the same requirements to pros in the same situation. Your account may stay pending or be paused until you pass.
Keeping your standing. Buyers choose pros partly by ratings and reliability, so we expect you to keep both high: good reviews, showing up on time, few cancellations, and jobs done right the first time. If your ratings or reliability fall below our standards, we may require an assessment, show you to buyers less often, or pause new jobs until you improve. We’ll tell you before taking any of these steps, and removal always follows a staff review.
Your promises. You confirm that you and any helper are qualified and experienced for the jobs you take, hold any license your city or state requires, and will follow the law. You’ll do every job in a careful, workmanlike manner, to the standard of a skilled assembler and the maker’s instructions. You’ll tell us within 7 days if you are convicted of any crime involving fraud, theft, violence or sexual misconduct, or anything related to working in people’s homes.
4. Verification costs and free bookings
- You pay for your identity check and background check when you apply. Assemblrs orders both through our own screening vendor and charges you the vendor’s price, with no markup. We don’t accept checks or reports you order yourself.
- Re-checks every 24 months are also paid by you.
- Once approved, your first $60 of booking fees are free. Each job you complete uses $8 of that until it runs out.
- Jobs the buyer cancels, doesn’t show for, or that aren’t what was booked don’t use up your free fees.
- Free fees are one per person, have no cash value, and can’t be paid out, transferred, or used after your account closes. We may take them back if they’re abused, for example through a second account.
5. Audits
We may check your license, insurance and anything else you submit. If we find an error, your account goes on hold and you have 10 days to correct it. We re-check and release your account if it passes. A $25 processing fee is charged for each error found. False information can lead to removal.
6. Fees
- Booking fee: a flat $8 when you get a job, charged to your credit balance first, then your card. There is no percentage of the job price. Your first $60 of booking fees are free (section 4).
- Fee credited back: if the buyer cancels, doesn’t show, the item doesn’t exist, the job isn’t what was booked, or Assemblrs removes the job. The credit pays your next booking fee. You can also ask for it as a payout to your bank (“Get my money now”).
- Fee not credited back: if you cancel late or don’t show.
- We may change fees with at least 30 days’ notice by email. Changes never apply to jobs already booked.
7. Getting paid
- The buyer pays you directly after the job, using the payment types you list on your profile. Assemblrs does not collect or hold the job price.
- Collecting payment from the buyer is your responsibility. Please mark jobs paid in the app so our records match.
- Wasted visit fees ($30) and late-cancel fees are collected by Assemblrs from the buyer’s deposit and paid to you in full through our payment processor (Stripe). You must set up a payout account with Stripe to receive them.
8. Booking and on-the-day rules
- Your price is your price. You build at the booked price. Small differences are part of the job. No price changes at the door.
- Extras: only add-ons the buyer requests and signs for in the app are added to the price.
- Buyer not there: if you arrive on time and wait 10 minutes, and contact the buyer through the app or masked number, you receive the buyer’s $30 deposit as a wasted visit fee.
- Not what was booked: if the item or counts are clearly different from what was posted, you may offer the buyer a rebook on the spot at your own rates, or leave. If you leave, your booking fee is credited back and you get the first chance if the buyer posts again.
- Cancelling: you may cancel free until 12 hours before the job. Cancelling later counts as a late cancel and the booking fee is not refunded.
- No-shows: each no-show is recorded as a strike and the booking fee is not refunded. You get 24 hours to respond. 3 strikes trigger a warning; 5 trigger a staff review. Removal is never automatic.
- Photos: take before and after photos in the app. They protect you in disputes.
- Fix-it visit: if the buyer reports within 14 days that the item wasn’t put together right, you return once to fix it at no charge.
9. Damage and the Assemblrs Promise
- If a buyer reports damage within 14 days, we review the photos, messages and both sides’ statements before deciding. You can respond before any decision.
- If we find the damage was caused by your work, Assemblrs pays the buyer up to $250. You are responsible for the rest.
- Insured pros: the rest goes to your insurance or you pay it directly.
- Uninsured pros: for each job, you agree that Assemblrs may charge up to $500 to your card on file for an upheld claim. Nothing is charged up front.
- Damage from a product defect, missing or broken parts from the factory, or the buyer’s own actions is not your responsibility. Report missing or broken parts in the app before you start.
- We decide claims in good faith based on the evidence. If you disagree with a decision, you can take it to small claims court (section 20).
10. Insurance
If you choose insurance: general liability of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, naming Kelcraft Solutions, LLC d/b/a Assemblrs as additional insured. Upload a new certificate before it expires. You carry your own auto insurance and, if you have employees, workers’ compensation.
11. Conduct and safety
- Be on time, polite and honest. Clean up packaging if offered in your listing.
- No alcohol or drugs on jobs. No weapons. No harassment or discrimination of any kind.
- Do not do electrical, plumbing, gas or structural work. Wall anchoring of furniture only if the buyer asks and you are able.
- Do not take photos of the buyer’s home beyond what the app asks for, and never of people.
- Report any safety incident to support@assemblrs.com right away.
Also not allowed:
- Paying for, trading or faking reviews, or reviewing yourself.
- Having more than one pro account.
- Ignoring a buyer’s request to stop contacting them.
- Charging a buyer more than the booked price plus signed-for add-ons, or collecting payment twice for the same job. (A job with several of the same item is priced for every item, as booked.)
12. Communication and texts
- Talk to buyers through the app or the masked phone number we provide, not your personal number. Calls and texts through the masked number are logged and kept for disputes only.
- You agree to receive job texts from Assemblrs at the number you give us. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, though you may miss jobs.
13. Buyers you meet through Assemblrs
There are no restrictions. You may work for any buyer outside Assemblrs, including buyers you met here. Jobs arranged outside Assemblrs are not covered by the Assemblrs Promise, don’t count toward your reviews, and are not ours to help with if something goes wrong.
14. No rate sharing
You set your prices alone. You will not share, discuss or agree on prices or rates with other pros. This keeps everyone on the right side of competition laws.
15. Confidential information
- Buyer addresses, details and photos you get through Assemblrs are for doing the job. Don’t sell or share them with anyone else.
- How Assemblrs calculates prices, ranks pros (“Best fit”) and sets defaults is our confidential trade secret. Do not copy, share or publish it, during or after this agreement.
16. Reviews
Only buyers who booked you can review you, within 14 days of the job. We don’t remove reviews because they are negative, only if they break our rules (for example, threats, personal information, or a review of the wrong job).
Your profile and photos. You give Assemblrs permission to show and use your name, profile, photos and reviews on the site and in our marketing, for as long as your account is open and for marketing already made after it closes. Photos of your work must be real photos of jobs you did, not AI-made or someone else’s.
17. Taxes
You are responsible for your own taxes, business licenses and any sales tax on your work. Assemblrs or Stripe may issue tax forms where the law requires.
18. Responsibility for claims
- You agree to cover Assemblrs (indemnify and defend) for any claim, loss or cost caused by your work, your helpers, or your breaking this agreement or the law. This includes damage to a buyer’s property, a buyer’s lost time or missed work, and amounts Assemblrs pays under the Assemblrs Promise beyond its own $250 share.
- Assemblrs provides the website “as is”. Except for amounts we owe you under this agreement, our total liability to you is limited to the booking fees you paid in the 6 months before the claim.
19. Ending the agreement
- You can close your account at any time. Finish or cancel booked jobs first.
- We can pause or remove your account for breaking this agreement, safety concerns, failed checks, or repeated no-shows, after the review steps above. For serious safety issues we may pause first and review after.
- Sections 9, 15, 17, 18 and 20 continue after the agreement ends.
20. Disputes
Utah law applies. Before filing anything, either side will first try to work it out by email for 30 days. If that doesn’t settle it:
- Small claims: either side may bring a claim in small claims court in the county where the job was done or where you live, if it qualifies.
- Arbitration: everything else is decided by binding arbitration, one person at a time, not as a class or group. It may be held by video or phone.
21. Changes and notices
We may update this agreement with at least 30 days’ notice by email. If you keep using Assemblrs after the change takes effect, you accept it. If you don’t accept, you may close your account. Notices to us go to support@assemblrs.com.
22. E-signature
By checking the box and submitting, you sign this agreement electronically and confirm everything you submitted is true.
23. General
- Whole agreement: this agreement, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
- If one part fails: if any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: if we don’t enforce a rule once, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfer: you can’t transfer your account or this agreement. We may transfer it if the business is sold.
- Events outside anyone’s control: neither side is responsible for delays caused by things like storms, outages or emergencies, except for amounts already owed.
- Time limit: any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, where the law allows.
- Electronic records: you agree to sign and receive this agreement and notices electronically. You can ask for a paper copy at support@assemblrs.com.
- U.S. only: Assemblrs is for pros working in the United States.
